Ever get sick of eating the same old granola bar or Cliff bar? Introducing Kate’s Real Food granola & snack bars! At Kate’s, they don’t skimp on using wholesome, real food – each bar contains a minimum of 85% organic ingredients. For a quick grab-and-go breakfast, or snack in the backcountry, Kate’s Real Food is sure to satisfy the sweet and salty mix you crave.
Kate’s Real Food offers 5 tasty flavors, each with their own special name: The Stash Bar, The Grizzly Bar, The Tram Bar, The Tiki Bar, and The Handle Bar.
Now, you may be wondering – where do all those names come from? A few years ago, Kate Schade, owner & founder of Kate’s Real Food, started her making homemade bars that she could take with her while skiing all day in Wyoming’s Teton Mountains. Buying ski resort food wasn’t an option, as the prices were too high. She needed something that would sustain her for hours while being active, was healthy, and affordable. As she made her original bar, The Tram Bar, she made adjustments over time to the recipe until it was perfect. She ignored her friends requests to start her own business, even as she would toss Tram Bars down to her friends skiing below her.
Before she knew it, she had become an entrepreneur. She decided to dedicate her free time to produce and sell the mouth-watering Tram Bar when she could. From using what ingredients she had in her kitchen, to now selling 5 variations of flavorful bars, Kate’s Real Food has grown into a nationally known company in the outdoor world and can be found in many hikers, backpackers, and skiers backpacks.
First up – Kate’s Stash Bar. Core ingredients are peanut butter and dark chocolate – who can say no to those two things? Containing only 8 ingredients, this nutty flavored bar will keep you satisfied for hours. The natural sugars and protein provided sustained energy, while amino acids from the hemp seeds help your body utilize it. Need some omega 3s in your diet? The flax seeds help give you that boost.
I brought the Stash Bar along with me while hiking to Gobblers Knob & Mt. Raymond. The bar is about the size of my palm. The sweet and salty mix was really tasty – one of my favorites of Kate’s bars.
Kate also makes Stash Bites – this bar is smaller than the full sized bar, and it chopped into four bite sized pieces. The Bites are great for when you just need a little snack or would be great for kids. I found it to be not as filling as the full sized bar, but the sweet and salty flavors are still there. The packaging is narrow, so it can fit even in your pocket.
Hate it when your other granola bars freeze in Winter? Kate’s bars do not freeze, so you don’t have to worry about stopping your outdoor activity by warming it up food your hands to be chewable. Pop these mouth watering bites as soon as you need a boost of energy. The Stash Bites come in all but one flavor (not the Tiki Bar flavor).
Kate’s Tiki Bar is for the tropical lover – the two main ingredients are mango and cashews. With a hint of coconut, this bar is sure to make you feel like you are in the tropics without ever leaving your favorite mountain. The Tiki Bar recipe is peanut, dairy, and gluten free, and is hand mixed for the best consistency.
About to tear into my Tiki Bar while on the summit of Box Elder Peak. Yum!
