Lodging Review: Circle D Hotel, Escalante , Utah

Circle D Motel is located in the heart of Escalante, Utah – an outdoor lovers paradise for hiking to slot canyons, canyoneering, backpacking, and exploring natural arches off Hole in the Rock Road. The area is rich with history and beautiful scenery, which is apart of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (GSENM). My dog and I come here to explore the trails, but sometimes it’s too cold for camping, especially in winter. That’s when we call up Circle D to make sure we have a warm, welcoming room when we arrive tired and dirty from exploring outside.

About

Circle D Motel is one of the few dog-friendly hotels in the area, so it’s always our first choice. Rates are fairly priced and we can usually fit four people in one room plus our dogs, so it’s a great deal when split with friends. Looking for more of a romantic get-away? Circle D offers single bedrooms and an off-site cozy cottage as well. They offer free wireless WiFi in all rooms, and all are non-smoking. All rooms come with a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Need some down-time after hiking? Choose from 62 channel of entertainment on the flat screen TVs.
Location is great – Circle D is centrally located in town so you can walk everywhere. It’s only 10 minutes from Hole in the Rock Road,  15 minutes to reach Death Hollow Wilderness, and 5 minutes from GSENM.

Charlie and Mama were ready for a soft bed after hiking 8 miles this day. Pets are allowed at an additional $15.00 fee. Be sure to notify the office or reservations online that you will have a dog, as there are only six rooms that are designated dog-friendly. They go fast, especially in high tourist season (March – November).
I highly recommend making your reservation no later than 2 months prior to your trip to Escalante, UT.
